Website Design - Internet Services
Web Design
Nowadays, in many cases, your potential client's initial contact with you is through your website. Therefore it is imperative that your site be appealing, accessible and user friendly.
While it
is true that with the web development tools available on the market today
anyone can build a website, designing a quality site that is not only
attractive on the outside but is equally agreeable on the inside
requires a developer who understands standards, is aware of accessibility
issues and is willing to implement them.
Here at DigitalWorx we can design and build websites from scratch that are aesthetically pleasing, have solid structures and will not crumble over time.
Websites developed at DigitalWorx employ the latest techniques whilst adhering to the strictest W3C standards. This ensures that pages degrade gracefully in older browsers, are functional across different platforms and user interfaces, are barrier-free and universally accessible. See our client portfolio for samples of our work.

Migration to Standards
Site Redesign
Many web development tools use tables for layout, employ deprecated ('out-of-date') or proprietary tags, resulting in poor quality pages bloated with unnecessary markup and accessibility barriers.
At DigitalWorx we hand-code all our sites to W3C standards with simple text editors ensuring that they are valid, accessible and functional across various browsers and interfaces.
If you already have a website, DigitalWorx can produce a compliant version.
Accessibility Retrofits
Simply put, accessibility implies that products and services are made available to everyone. On the web this means that visitors are able to get to your site's content and are able to make effective use of that content.
People affected by accessibility
- Blind or partially-sighted people
- Color blind people
- People with physical disabilities
- People using handhelds and small devices, such as mobile phones or PDAs
- People using older browsers or text-only browsers
- People on slow internet connections
Many websites are often developed reflecting the designer's environment who usually has access to the latest hardware or software and is skilled in the use of computers and the Internet. Your visitors may not fit the same profile.
There are a range of user characteristics to be considered when designing for the web. Visitors to your site may be using a browser other than Internet Explorer; they may be using a non-graphical browser altogether or may have images switched off. They may have different screen resolutions, connection speeds. Your website should still be functional under these circumstances.
An inaccessible website is not only unethical and unproductive, in some countries it is also against the law and falls under various Discrimination Acts. At DigitalWorx, we use an inclusive approach when designing pages to accommodate users with diverse abilities and preferences.
Making your website accessible is good business strategy. It benefits everyone, shows social responsibility whilst adhering to any legal requirements.
Site Evaluation
Upon client's request we can run a series of checks to identify problem areas and report on corrective measures. We can further provide advice on improvements that can be made to the website to help businesses better align their websites to current legal requirements and best practices. You may also opt for our code and image optimisation services which can ensure faster download times and code efficiency.
